THE MAN BEHIND THE VISION
Rev. Dr. Uma Ukpai is without doubt a world-renowned evangelist. Through his evangelistic outreaches and crusades, many souls are saved, restored and preserved. His ministerial integrity is unquestionable by the grace of God, beyond reproach and doubt. His vision and passion to contribute to the development of education in Nigeria and human capacity development is a welcomed development and highly appreciated by those who have understood his heartbeat and sacrifice.
The Uma Ukpai Evangelistic Association Inc. has been in existence for thirty-five years. God has used this ministry to touch thousands of people, not only spiritually but socially, both within and outside Nigeria. However, the economic experiences particularly in Nigeria in the last decade have adversely affected the younger generation. This has become a growing concern and the ministry decided to establish an Institution that will assist in skill acquisition and empowerment for the youth. The conventional curriculum for Bible School was reviewed in the context of economic realities in the life of Nigerian.
The establishment of any good educational Institution should be guided by the Academic and Professional needs of the people, Uma Ukpai School of Theology is no exception. The development of education in any country is never the responsibility of Government alone. No matter how financially endowed a country might be, a lot more can be achieved with co-operation from the citizens, especially the private sector.
Uma Ukpai School of Theology is a humble contribution from the Uma Ukpai Evangelistic Association Inc., to the development of education and human resources in Nigeria. It is hoped that this humble contribution will help not only in the reduction of unemployment among our youths but also in having a relay effect so that more and similar Institutions will come to the rescue of our younger generation from poverty and anti-social engagements.
The design of Uma Ukpai School of Theology is therefore deliberate and aimed at producing graduates who will live Christian Economic lives by being producers and employers of labour. This will be done with special emphasis on skill acquisition and empowerment of graduates from this School.
